Langtoft residents now have a Friday bus link to Driffield after around a decade without a connection of this kind.
Service 524 began stopping in the village on Friday 30 October. It offers a morning journey into town and an early-afternoon return.
It follows representations from Councillor Denise Howard and a visit by Mayor Luke, who asked the Combined Authority’s transport team to find a solution with local partners.
HEYCA’s transport team worked with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and East Hull Community Transport to divert the existing Friday Service 524 through Langtoft, instead of commissioning a new route.
Councillor Denise Howard said:
“Thanks to our Mayor for making the first steps towards rural connectivity possible. These are early days, but we are moving in the right direction with this pilot.”
Mayor Luke Campbell MBE said:
“A decade is a long time to go without a useful Friday bus into town. When Councillor Howard raised this with my office, I wanted to come out and hear from residents myself.
“I asked our transport team to look at what we could do. They’ve worked with East Riding Council and East Hull Community Transport to get the bus into the village. Residents raised the problem, and we’ve acted on it.
“But this is a pilot, and we need people to use it. That will help us understand whether it can continue. There are other communities across Hull and East Yorkshire facing transport problems too, and I want us to take the same practical approach wherever we can.”
On Fridays, Service 524 departs Langtoft at 10:03 and reaches Driffield (George Street) at 10:30. The return leaves Driffield at 13:15 and reaches Langtoft at 13:42.
