Bolsonaro, who has refused to concede following his defeat by incumbent president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the run-off vote, has already left Brazil, sources told news agency Reuters.
One family source said he had landed in Florida along with his wife and two daughters, although this has not been confirmed.
Bolsonaro, the son of jailed former president Jair Bolsonaro, left Brazil after refusing to comply with a supreme court order to surrender his passports as part of a probe into alleged money laundering. He denies any wrongdoing.
A US official said: “The state department will issue visas to Flavio Bolsonaro and his family and allow them entry into the United States.”
Responding to the news, election winner Lula described the reports as “shameful”.
