Hector Patmore, 45, who lived in Belgium, was last seen on the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides at about 10.45am on Sunday.
He left Glenbrittle Youth Hostel and planned to climb Sgurr na Banachdich, descending via Coire na Banachdich in the Cuillin Ridge mountain area.

Mr Patmore failed to return to his accommodation and had not been in contact with his family.
He was reported missing at about 10.25pm.
At around 2pm on Monday, Police Scotland received a report of a body found in the Cuillin area of Skye.
Police said formal identification has yet to take place.
The death is not believed to be suspicious.
Police Scotland said a report is being sent to the procurator fiscal.
