Tophill Low Nature Reserve near Driffield is hosting its annual open day on Sunday 14 June, inviting the public to visit the popular wildlife oasis for free.
The Yorkshire Water reserve, which is home to otters, barn owls, kingfishers and grass snakes, will host treasure trails, pond dipping, and other wildlife-based activities. Visitors will also be able to hear from over 20 conservation exhibitors, as well as biosecurity, education, and nature reserve teams and volunteers from Yorkshire Water.
Attending organisations include Visit Hull and East Yorkshire, the RSPB, Yorkshire Coast Nature, and Friends of Lower Derwent Valley Group, among many others.
Chester Smith, nature reserve warden at Yorkshire Water, said:
“In previous years we’ve had over 500 visitors on our open day, and we’re hoping that people will once again turn up in their numbers to hear all about the conservation efforts underway at both Tophill Low, and in the wider community.”
The event is between 10am and 4pm, and is free to attend. Light bites and drinks will be available during the event.
The reserve is signposted four miles from the A164 at Watton, East Yorkshire. Only assistance dogs are permitted.
