This Halloween Sewerby Hall, Gardens and Zoo will be hosting a variety of family friendly, spooky activities throughout the school holidays to keep everyone frightfully entertained.
From Saturday 26 October to Sunday 3 November visitors will be able to enjoy everything from mystical magic shows to live entertainment and autumnal crafting. Join Sewerby Hall, Gardens and Zoo for a spine-chilling celebration that promises to be a scream for all ages.

- Saturday, 26 October, Wednesday, 30 October and Saturday, 2 November – Spooky magic shows and face painting, 11am – 4pm
Mr Bubbles will have visitors full of giggles with trick or treats galore, an event which promises to be eerily exciting. Face painting by the professional face painter will be a £3 additional charge.
Shows times in the Orangery: 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.

Explore the wonderous walled gardens to uncover what lurks around the grounds…happy haunting!
- Saturday, 26 October – Sunday, 3 November – Love Exploring: Halloween dance trail, 10am -3.30pm

- Saturday, 26 October – Sunday, 3 November – Halloween trail, 11.30am – 3pm
Come and help a forgetful Ghost sort out his party, follow the creepy trail around Sewerby Hall and uncover everything he needs to make the party a SCREAM!
- Sunday, 27 October – Wildcats: Anti-Heroes, 11am – 3pm
Wildcats will be making infamous baddies from their super-natural materials; visitors can join them to create their favourite evil character!
- Monday, 28 October – Rusticus Wizarding Adventure, 11.30am – 3pm
Join wizarding detectives as they embark on a quest to uncover the truth behind a series of strange, ghostly occurrences that have been plaguing the area!
Performances will take place at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.
- Tuesday, 29 October – Rusticus Adventure: Grimms Tales, 11.30am – 3pm
Join monster hunters – the brothers Grimm and enter the world of the witcher as together visitors will unearth the monsters lurking in forbidden corners of Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
Performances will take place at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.
- Thursday, 31 October – Rusticus trick or treat adventure, 11.30am – 3pm
Step into a world where enchantment and mischief collide in this interactive family-friendly outdoor adventure. This event will feature a cast of famous tricksters including Luna the Moonlight Magician and Mischief the Marvellous Jester.
Performances will take place at 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm.
- Thursday, 31 October – Halloween crafts, 11.30am – 3pm
Mix a magic potion in the Edwardian kitchen or create a spellbinding Halloween trick or treat bag in the Servants’ Hall.
- Friday, 1 November – Zoo activity: Halloween scary fat balls, 11am – 1.30pm
Get into the Halloween spirit by creating some ghostly fat balls to support the local wildlife, hopefully nature won’t be too spooked! This event does not require booking in advance.
Session times are 11am – 11.30am and 1pm – 1.30pm.
- Friday, 1 November – Wildcats: Vikings, 11am – 3pm
Become a Viking for the day and craft a Viking Helmet in this half term Wildcats session. Mini long boats and Viking weapons made from an array of natural materials will be sure to inspire the imagination.
- Sunday, 3 November – Wildcats: Autumnal decorations, 11am – 3pm
Wildcats are exploring the beautiful colours and materials of autumn in this session. Visitors will be able to create seasonal wreaths to display in time for bonfire night gatherings.
This year’s Halloween celebration will see the return of Rusticus who bring the outdoors to life with costume themed, interactive story telling. Through engaging sessions, Rusticus create an exhilarating environment for children to learn, making for an unforgettable day out for the whole family.

Sewerby House will be open weekends and during the October half term 11.30am – 3.30pm with last admission at 3pm.
The Zoo is open daily 10am – 3.30pm with last admission at 3pm.
The Walled Gardens are open daily 9.30am – 3.30pm with last admission at 3pm.
