Hutton Cranswick Parish Council have been awarded £13,273.20 from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of commuted sums to install new play equipment to the village play area.
‘Commuted sums’ are monies paid by housing developers to the Council if they are unable to provide outdoor playing spaces on new housing developments.
The parish council have also contributed £12,060.24 towards the £25,333.44 total cost.
The new giant swing, installed by Kompan, features a safety surfacing area underneath the basket of the swing. The equipment was selected in consultation with the Hutton Cranswick Community Primary School Student Council, ensuring it meets the needs and preferences of the local children.
Russell Thompson, chair of Hutton Cranswick Parish Council, said “We would like to thank the Commuted Sums team for their overwhelming contribution of over £13,000 that has enabled us to replace a much-loved part of our play park.”
Councillor Gary McMaster, the council’s cabinet member for planning, housing and infrastructure said “I am very pleased to see the completion of this upgrade to the Hutton Cranswick play park. The popular play area has been greatly improved thanks to the installation of the new Giant Swing and will prove to be a well used asset in the area.”
