New owners say Driffield’s Bell Hotel will re-open after refurb

Clear Summer Hospitality Limited has bought The Bell Hotel in Driffield.

The company said:

“We truly value the role hotels play in their communities, and we understand that the Bell Hotel is more than just a building — it is a well-known and much-loved part of Driffield’s history. We recognise the strong connection local residents have with the hotel, especially following its long association with the Riggs family, and we respect the legacy they have left behind.

“We would like to reassure the community that our intention is to preserve the Bell Hotel as a hospitality and commercial venue. We have provided the appropriate legal assurances that the property will not be used for residential purposes. Our aim is to carefully restore the hotel, maintain its character and original essence, and bring it back into operation as a welcoming, sustainable, and successful establishment that benefits both our company and the wider Driffield community.

“At present, we are carrying out initial assessments of the building and operational needs. This includes reviewing the condition of the property, compliance matters, and identifying improvements that will support the hotel’s long-term future. Once this stage is complete, we will be in a better position to share timelines for works and reopening.

“We are committed to working responsibly, in line with local regulations, and to becoming a positive part of the community. We appreciate the interest and patience of local residents while preparations are underway and look forward to sharing further updates in due course.”
