Wednesday 19th August will see the Yorkshire Wolds Railway welcome Goldilocks and a life sized teddy bear as it holds its ‘Teddie Rides Eddie’ event.
Continuing its Wednesday opening through the school summer holidays John Lidster, YWR member explained:
“In its life before the YWR, our locomotive “Sir Tatton Sykes” was originally called Eddie, hence the name of our event where we welcome Goldilocks and Teddie! We want the day to appeal to as many as possible during the summer break so when an adult buys a ticket on Wednesday 19 August, they will also get a free child ticket if they bring a teddy! This is a perfect summer holiday treat for the young, or young at heart. Trains are running from 10-4, with the last train at 3.30, and we are very much looking forward to seeing everyone’s Teddies on what is set to be a great day!”
Visitors to the YWR will also have the opportunity to explore the visitor centre, see progress on the new Visitor Centre and Working Facility, visit “Buffers” the on site shop for a tea or coffee and enjoy free colouring with a teddy themed trail.

“We so grateful to everyone that continues to visit the YWR. 2026 is greatly surpassing our own records across the board in ticket sales and attendance. Thanks must go to all visitors, members and businesses for their continued support. As a fully volunteer run, charity registered organisation, without that support we would not be able to keep moving forward with the ambitious plans that we have!”
