More than 50 employers and training providers will exhibit at this year’s Hull & East Riding Apprenticeship Expo.
Taking place in Bishop Burton College’s Equine Arena on Wednesday 30 September, it will be open to the public from 3.45pm – 6pm.
The event is aimed at young people who are in Years 11, 12, 13, home-educated, care experienced or not in education, employment or training.
Some of the employers and training providers exhibiting at the event include Arco, Swift, Hobson & Porter, the British Armed Forces, Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and many local colleges.
The event is jointly organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Hull City Council and Bishop Burton College.
Data from the Department for Education (DfE) shows that apprenticeships among young people have risen nationally for the second consecutive year, with higher and degree apprenticeships showing particularly strong growth.
Locally, Hull and the East Riding consistently exceed the national average for 16–18-year-olds entering apprenticeships.
Despite this, employers across multiple sectors report ongoing recruitment challenges, while young people and parents continue to say that navigating apprenticeship options is confusing and often overwhelming.
This event aims to help bridge the gap by connecting local residents with employers, training providers and unbiased careers information.
Employed apprenticeships are not age restricted and anyone aged 16 or over may be eligible to start this type of training.
