Domestic violence campaign installed on East Riding bin lorries

Five refuse vehicles have been installed with advertising panels, encouraging victims of domestic violence and abuse, to come forward and receive support.

The vehicles will reach the entirety of the East Riding, including in rural areas where victims may be more isolated.

The vehicles will raise awareness of domestic abuse and the support available for victims. This includes support for adults and children who experience domestic abuse, and for those wanting to change their behaviours.

The advertising forms part of the councils’ support for Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, this October. This year’s theme of ‘Spot the signs, start the conversation’ focusing on the vital role everyone can play in recognising abuse and helping those affected.

Professional and self-referrals (calling about your own situation) can be made by calling 01482 396368 or completing the online DVAP self-referral form.

The DVAP team, work with housing for anyone placed in temporary accommodation due to domestic abuse and will offer emotional support to those dispersed from home.
