The East Riding village of Bempton near Bridlington is aiming to be the UK’s first ‘St John First Aid competent village’.
The aim is to train enough locals is life-saving techniques to ensure there is a qualified first aider in every street in the village.
Volunteers will be trained in the five ways to save a life: using CPR or a defibrillator and dealing with choking, bleeding, heart attacks and unresponsive people.
Training sessions begin tonight (Tuesday 26th August).
