The Music Mark of Recognition has been awarded to 18 East Riding schools, demonstrating their commitment to music education.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Music Education Service recognised the schools for how they advocate for the importance of music education in the curriculum and creative life of the school.

Cowick, Preston, Quay, Swinemoor, Airmyn, Brough, Beverley St Nicholas, Burton Agnes, Hallgate, Lockington, North Ferriby, Roos, Skirlaugh, Rawcliffe and Rawcliffe Bridge, Westfield, Willberby Carr and Wold Newton Primary Schools and Hornsea School and Language College have all been awarded the Music Mark of Recognition.

Councillor Victoria Aitken, cabinet member for children, families and education said: “Music enriches the lives of children and the community. These schools provide an equitable, diverse and inclusive music education for every young person, and welcome opportunities to broaden musical horizons by working with providers in the community.

“Well done to these schools, and I look forward to more of our schools being awarded the recognition.”
