Yorkshire Coast Rail Community Rail Partnership recently unveiled a new ‘Barrow Boy’ sculpture at Bridington Railway Station. You can hear the best bits of our coverage here (image thanks to Northern Rail).

Chairman Peter tells us about the building of the statue, and a bit about its story. Ex barrow boys and girls were interviewed during its creation, and this is a celebration of a British seaside town tradition.

Roger, the Vice Chair of the Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership, tells us more about where the idea of the sculpture originated to celebrate this slice of Bridlington history.

Sculptor Stephen Carvill describes the social history that lies behind his creation, and his great partnership with the Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership.
