Driffield’s application for Town of Culture 2028 needs to be submitted by the deadline of 31st March.
You can share your thoughts and ideas at two events.
The Town Council will hold a meeting in Cass Hall at 6pm on Wednesday 18th March where business owners, young people, local groups, clubs and organisations are invited to contribute. If you would like to attend, email toc2028@driffieldtowncouncil.gov.uk
In addition, they will be on the Market on Thursday 19th March to collect ideas and thoughts from residents and visitors.
You can also drop in at the Town Council offices on Market Walk, Monday to Friday.
Driffield will compete in the category for ‘Small Towns’ (under 20,000 residents). The strongest bids will progress to a shortlist, with each shortlisted town receiving £60,000 to help deliver their full bids for the competition. Three finalists – one from each of the Small, Medium and Large Town categories – will be chosen with the winner receiving a £3 million prize and the two runners-up receiving £250,000 to enable them to deliver parts of their proposed cultural programme.
Driffield Town Council said:
“We believe we have a really compelling story to tell and have received lots of messages of support and ideas for content. It’s clear that culture means something different to everyone so we’re keen to make sure our bid reflects this as much as possible.”
