Road improvements are due to be carried out in the village of Watton, between Driffield and Beverley.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £570,000 in a scheme to improve Carr Lane, Watton, between the railway crossing and the junction with Cross Lane.
The work is scheduled to begin on Monday 28 July, be carried out during the daytime, and is expected to take up to seven weeks to complete.
The scheme includes road widening, structural patching, kerbing replacement and installation, the creation of new passing places, and the resurfacing of the road.
During the work, the road will be closed to all through traffic.
Drivers will be diverted via Mill Bridge Layby and Beverley Road, Watton, Beverley Road, Main Street, Station Road, Stockbridge Road, Cross Lane, Sheepman Lane and Watton Carrs Road in Hutton Cranswick and Watton Carrs, Watton.
People will still have access to properties in the working area.
Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “This road is badly in need of improvement and we want to thank residents and motorists for their patience while we complete this work.” The works will be carried out by the council’s own road maintenance team.
