PC Christopher Miller, 38, is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries following the incident on the B416 in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, at about 10.20pm on Thursday.
Simranjit Kajla, 28, of Slough, has been charged with attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, and using a motor vehicle without insurance, police said.
Kajla is due to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court later on Tuesday.

A 38-year-old, also from Slough – who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving – has been released on police bail until 23 August.
A 43-year-old, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released under investigation.
Still in police custody at this time is a 37-year-old woman – who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.
Thames Valley Police are urging members of the public who may have witnessed the event – or may have relevant dash-cam footage – to assist with the investigation.
They also previously said that they believe there are “people out there that know who is responsible” – and if people come forward, it will be treated “in the strictest confidence”.
