Former Premier League referee David Coote charged with making indecent video of a child

David Coote, 43, was charged by Nottinghamshire Police in relation to a video file found by detectives in February this year.

Sky News understands the charge is over a Category A image, which is the most serious type of offence and usually involves children being sexually assaulted by adults.

Coote, of Collingham, was charged on 12 August and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 11 September, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Referees’ body the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) confirmed his contract had been terminated in December.
