Members of the Saint Catherine’s Driffield Support Group were honoured with long service awards at an event for Volunteers’ Week 2019.

The event was held at Scampston Hall near Malton and volunteers were treated to a delicious afternoon tea.

Lyn Morris received her 20-year award, plus a bouquet of flowers, and Anne Downes received her 15-year award.

Lyn, the group’s chairperson, said: “The first three letters in fundraising are fun, so I’ve said from the start that our events should always be fun! We have lots of food-related events and we had a gin tasting recently which went really well. Our group just works so well together and 20 years have flown by.”

Anne said: “I just really enjoy it. I can’t believe it’s been 15 years – where has the time gone?”

Gill Ullyott, who recently attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace in recognition of her fundraising efforts, said: “We are always looking to welcome new members. Anyone with fundraising ideas, do let us know – we’re open for business!”

Gill added that her experience at the palace was wonderful and that the Queen spent lots of time chatting to the guests.

Last year the group raised an amazing £15,000 for patient care.
