Volunteers wanted to help out with Sewerby Squirrels

April 30, 2019

The continuing popularity of the ‘Sewerby Squirrels’ sessions on Monday mornings at Sewerby Hall and Gardens means that organisers are looking for more volunteers to help with the weekly sessions.

Aimed at under fives and their families, the sessions are held in the Orangery from 10am -11.30am, every Monday during East Riding term time.

All the sessions feature themed activities based on seasonal events, Edwardian life, and exhibits on display at the venue.

Under Fives Learning Co-ordinator Lucy Cooke said : “We are absolutely delighted with the continued success of Sewerby Squirrels, and we are now looking for more volunteers to come and help to maintain and perhaps expand the sessions still further.

“We are looking for people who are willing to help with a range of activities on Monday mornings! Enthusiasm will count for a great deal, and we are ideally looking for a commitment to coming along on a weekly basis.”

Volunteer Judy Moore added : “Whether you're welcoming and chatting with parents and carers or playing with the children as they explore the structured activities, helping out at Sewerby Squirrels is a very enjoyable and rewarding experience."

Sewerby Hall and Gardens offers stunning gardens, the Clock Tower Café, activities and events all year round, and the chance to visit the house itself, recreated to look as it would have done in 1910, at the height of the Edwardian era.
