Play area improved in Hutton Cranswick thanks to Commuted Sums

Hutton Cranswick Parish Council have completed the works at the play area on the village green using the £7,848 awarded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of Commuted Sums from local housing developments.

The works included purchasing new play equipment and replacement safety surfacing at the existing play area.

The funding was part of a larger project on the play area with a total cost of £53,099. The Parish Council contributed £41,401, with the remaining £3,850 raised through fundraising with local businesses.

Councillor Russell Thompson received a plaque from the Commuted Sums team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council to commemorate the funding.

Councillor Russell Thompson said: "Hutton Cranswick Parish Council is pleased to have received the funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as, with an increase in child population in Hutton Cranswick, the funding has helped to improve the play provision in the village."

Councillor Gary McMaster, East Riding of Yorkshire Council portfolio holder for planning, infrastructure, and housing, added: "It’s great to see the completion of these important improvements in Hutton Cranswick, facilitated by Commuted Sums provided by local housing developments as a condition of their planning approval. I know that the play area now looks superb!"
