The 2020 East Riding of Yorkshire Council Chairman’s Awards are set to take place next month with a virtual ceremony and Great Driffield Radio has been nominated in the Chairman's Business Award category!
The annual awards, which are usually held at Bridlington Spa in May, had been put on hold due to the COVID-19 lockdown but on Tuesday, 28 July, starting at 7pm, the winners will be crowned during a virtual event which will be streamed live on the council’s social media platforms.
The event will be hosted by BBC broadcaster and presenter, Clare Frisby with chairman Councillor Pat Smith announcing the winners from each of the four categories.
Councillor Smith said: “I am delighted to be able to announce that the 2020 Chairman’s Awards will be going ahead – albeit in a very different format due to the coronavirus.
“Everyone has worked hard behind the scenes to ensure a virtual ceremony can take place which will give us all the opportunity to recognise all the effort and work people have put into their communities to make it a better place.
“The list of nominees has now been announced and I congratulate them all and wish them the best of luck for the final.”
Great Driffield Radio Chairman, Barry Robinson said: "I'm thrilled and delighted that Great Driffield Radio has been nominated for this award.
"We have been working so hard since our launch in December 2018 to become a great asset to Great Driffield and the East Riding offering entertainment, news, information and a platform for other businesses to promote themselves too.
"To be shortlisted is just amazing!"
