Driffield man launches free advice service to help local businesses weather the Coronavirus storm

A Driffield man has today launched a free of charge advice service for local businesses and self-employed people to help them access financial support from the Government during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Charlie Dewhirst has had a 15-year career in government and public relations, and served for eight years as a local councillor. His aim is to provide a simple advice service for anyone looking to claim one of the many Coronavirus grant schemes recently introduced by the Government.

Consultations can be done by email or on the phone and Charlie has created a website with information about the available support: https://www.coronasupport.biz. The service will initially be available to anyone based in the YO25 postcode area but he hopes to expand it more widely in the near future.

Charlie said:

“The way in which our towns and villages have come together in recent weeks is extraordinary. Small businesses and self-employed people play an enormous role in our local communities and I want to do my bit to make sure they survive these unprecedented challenges.

“Navigating Government grant schemes can be complex and frustrating so it occurred to me that my own experience and expertise might be of some use. Whether it is pointing people in the right direction, assisting with applications or advising on more complex cases, I will do what I can to help.

“I can provide this support from home so I won’t be breaking any social distancing rules and I can still put in a shift looking after our newborn twins!”
