Market Weighton distillery expands with new ‘Yorkshire Rum’

Production is expanding at Wicstun Distillery near Market Weighton.

Storage capacity has been increased with the installation of a new storage room. The delivery of a new still has doubled the company’s distilling capacity. Two large fermentation tanks now allow the team to produce raw spirit from scratch.

Wicstun Distillery is now preparing to produce their own Yorkshire Rum. The spirit will be matured in a selection of sherry and bourbon oak casks over the coming months. They will also increase production of some of their most popular products, including their famous Toffee Vodka and Scarborough Gin.

This year has also brought a new look for the brand. There will be updated bottle designs based on an idea that director Lisa Packer developed in early 2025.

2025 was a very difficult year for the Wicstun Distillery team. Lisa passed away unexpectedly, leaving both her family and the business in shock. Lisa was not only a director of the company but also the wife of fellow director and head distiller, Jago Packer. Her loss had a profound impact on both the family and the day-to-day running of the distillery.

2026 will see Jago and the Wicstun team putting into action the expansion plans and ideas that he and his wife had set out at the start of 2025.
