The owners of Eden Camp Museum have reassured visitors that it is “very much business as usual” despite the recent announcement that the popular attraction is up for sale.
The news broke yesterday (Thursday) that Christie & Co, a specialist leisure property adviser, has been appointed to oversee the sale of Eden Camp, one of the UK’s most iconic and award-winning visitor attractions. Situated on the outskirts of Old Malton, the museum has become a staple of historical education and entertainment for locals and tourists alike.
Eden Camp’s unique history dates back to 1942 when it was constructed to serve as a prisoner of war camp for Italian soldiers during the Second World War. Over the decades, the site has transformed into a living history museum that immerses visitors in the experiences of wartime Britain, offering an unparalleled educational experience.
A spokesperson for Eden Camp Modern History Museum said: “Following the announcement of the planned sale, it is very much business as usual. We are busy preparing for another fantastic year after the success of 2024, welcoming visitors to explore the collections and enjoy a host of events. Our sights are very much set on February half-term and the season opening in March.
“The owners are rightly proud that this has been a family business for 40 years and want to retire, but ensure Eden Camp is being sold with the intention that it stays as a museum for future generations to enjoy and continue to safeguard the incredible artefacts and memorabilia remain as part of this unique collection.
The current owners Paula Peace and Howard Johnson are excited at what the future holds for one of the region’s best-loved visitor attractions.”

17 to 23 February 2025 – February Half Term Fun
29 March – Museum open for the 2025 Season
