Great Driffield AFC were beaten by Bridlington Town in the final of the East Riding Senior Cup on Wednesday night (22nd April).
Two goals from Ahmed Salam gave Bridlington a two-nil half time lead at the Versa Sportswear Stadium in North Ferriby.
Bridlington, who play three leagues above Great Driffield, added another two in the second half to win four-nil.
Writing on social media Great Driffield AFC said:
“It wasn’t to be. It was always a huge ask coming up against a strong team that ply their trade 3 divisions further up the pyramid… While its a disappointing way to relinquish our title, Dicko and the squad have put on an amazing cup run once again to even make the final, knocking out higher opposition once again. Our congratulations go to Brid Town.
“We would like to thank everyone that came along tonight, your support has been immense and we are proud to have you with us on this incredible journey.
“In the last 3 years the lads have made 3 cup finals and on Saturday have the chance to make it 4 as they take on Hodgsons AFC in the semi-final of the Whiteheads Fish and Chips Cup.
“Well done lads on an amazing effort.”
