There will be a chance for pre-school children to get in the mood for a very merry Christmas by joining East Riding Libraries and Customer Services for festive storytime readings of ‘Jolly Jingly Christmas’ by Clare Lloyd, accompanied by sounds, songs and rhymes.

Christmas and New Year generates more waste than any other time of the year in the East Riding – but the good news is most of it can be recycled.

The Driffield & Wolds Food Bank is organising a Food Drive to help those who need food over Christmas and to help them over the time that the Food Bank is closed.

The team will be making up the Christmas Hampers so if you can help with any food and gift items they they would be welcome up to Wednesday 12th December. Any donated toys will go to the children of needy families.

The Driffield & Wolds Food Bank closes on Thursday 20th December.

There are collection points at:

  • Tesco in Driffield
  • Council offices
  • Barclays Bank
  • All churches
  • And at All Saints Parish Hall, Middle Street North, Driffield (open Monday 1.30-3pm & Thursday 2-4pm)

The types if food that are suitable for donation are:

  • Tins of meat/fish/fruit/veg
  • Sugar/UHT Milk/Fruit Juice
  • Toiletries
  • Cleaning Products
  • Toilet Rolls/Baby Wipes
  • Pickles/Jams
  • Christmas Puddings/Cakes/Treats
  • New Toys
