The governing body said an independent Regulatory Commission had imposed the suspension and a mandatory face-to-face education programme on Mr Coote for a breach of FA rules.
Coote previously admitted that he used abusive or insulting words about Klopp in a video that was recorded around July 2020 and appeared on social media in November 2024.
It was also alleged that his actions constituted an “aggravated breach” as they included a reference – whether express or implied – to the German manager’s nationality.
During the investigation, Coote said his words did not reflect his true feeling towards Klopp, for whom he has a “deep professional respect”.
Coote has apologised to Klopp personally, as well as the FA, the Professional Game Match Officials (PGMOL) and the wider football community.
The PGMOL – the body responsible for managing and overseeing professional football referees in England – confirmed the termination of Coote’s employment in December.
It said that a thorough investigation had concluded he was “in serious breach of the provisions of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenable”.
In February, Coote was banned by UEFA until 30 June, 2026 after a different video emerged of him snorting a white powder through a bank note while in Germany for last summer’s Euros.
